ICAEW Student Council (ISC) is the leading body for students studying the ACA. It brings together student representatives from around the world, providing a voice and a feedback mechanism for you and your thousands of fellow training students.

What does it do?

The student council meets quarterly across the UK and communicates with all areas of ICAEW. The council is often asked to feed back their opinions of recent exams, and often are given first hand information about changes prior to any other students.

In addition the chair also sits on ICAEW’s governing council ensuring students have a voice at the very top of the Institute.

As the Chair of the Student Council, I am dedicated to upholding and expanding upon the strategic initiatives of my predecessor, fostering continuous progress for both students and the profession. Enhancing the student experience remains a core priority, ensuring comprehensive support across all areas.

I am passionate about social mobility as I am a firm believer in equal opportunities for all regardless of background, I’d like to make the pathway into accountancy more accessible to ensure we’re attracting the best talent from a diverse background. And as a proud member of ICAEW, I would seek to promote the organization and its benefits to students across the network. I will be working closely with the Vice-Chair, ICAEW members, students, and my peers where together we will strive to stay ahead of emerging trends and deliver the best we can.

Being an advocate for inclusivity and supportive networks has significantly influenced my journey, especially as someone transitioning careers. I strongly believe in the importance of welcoming individuals from diverse backgrounds into the ICAEW pathway, regardless of their educational or career status. There are various paths available, and it is never too late to pursue a career in accountancy.

Through my firsthand experiences, I have realised the crucial role that support networks play in navigating academic studies and career progression. My mission is to empower all individuals to pursue their accounting aspirations, breaking free from stereotypes or misconceptions. Let's create an environment where everyone can thrive! Furthermore, I am excited about contributing to the ongoing long-term goals established by previous chairs and vice chairs.
